HARRISON, NY, Aug. 23- LAZ Parking celebrated the Grand Opening of Harrison Parking Garage on August 23rd, located just steps away from the Metro North station’s platform. The new garage consists of a 598-space commuter parking garage, of which 475 will be reserved specifically for Metro North riders and customers. The Harrison Parking Garage opening after a decade in the making will add over 80% of additional public parking to the MNR Station. The garage includes two elevators and two stairwells making it fully accessible in accordance to the ADA. The pay stations located in the train station will remain the designated method of reserving a parking space.
With LAZ Parking being a trusted partner of the MTA for many years, the Harrison Parking Garage will be the 57th location managed and operated on behalf of Metro North Railroads. LAZ Parking celebrated the opening with a table of snacks and giveaways set up to welcome parkers on the first day of opening and during the official press release.
The opening completes the first phase of Metro North’s transient-oriented development plan. This phase also includes construction of 83 apartments and retail space. The second phase of the project will bring 60 more apartments and commercial spaces to the area.
Janno Lieber, MTA Acting Chairman and Catherine Rinaldi, President of Metro North were joined by the Mayor of Harrison on August 27th to give a few words on the accomplishment of this opening, and to thank all who were involved.
“With the new garage also comes retail space and apartments that helps advance equity, creates more diversity, all making the community more attractive,” Lieber said. “It also incentivizes people who live in Harrison and the surrounding areas use mass transit to get to New York City or Connecticut, whether it is to pursue work opportunities or for leisure travel.”
LAZ Parking will continue to operate and manage the garage onsite. For questions regarding permits or parking spaces, please reach out to RRinquiries@lazparking.com.
